GSW Pre-K Book Writing Assignment

Each student in the education class was assigned one or two students in the GSW Pre-K program to assist in writing and illustrating a book. The assignment covered a period of a couple of weeks in which we met with the students for fifteen minutes a day every Monday and Wednesday. I was given a girl and a boy to help complete a book. The first day got off to a good start. I introduced myself to the students and explained that they were going to write a book and draw pictures to illustrate the story. The boy made up a story about a monster and drew some pictures. The girl chose to write about a female super hero and drew a few pictures. Judging from their excitement on that first day, I thought this was going to be an easy assignment, but I was wrong. On the second day of the assignment, I knew I was not prepared. Both the students wanted to change their stories. I let them draw and tell me about their pictures and tried to guide them to writing a story with a beginning and an...

Videos

1st video: I really like how the teacher uses enthusiasm to encourage the student. The teacher doesn't tell the student what to write, but helps them if they are confused with what they need to do next. 2nd video: Kindergartners are just learning how to spell words. This video explains about how you can incorporate games into learning words for Kindergartners.

It really bothers me when someone loudly talks over someone else and doesn't apologize. I really think people should just wait their turn to speak besides speaking out like that. Can't we all just wait our turn? It drives me crazy!

Thanksgiving

Ginny Stillson, Kristen Smith, Lauren Resnick Thanksgiving I went home to Colquitt and ate Thanksgiving dinner. Instead of a traditional Thanksgiving meal, we had to eat Chinese take out. My mom washed the dishes which was really just the chopsticks while my dad walked the dogs. I decided to go on my own walk and I saw a stranger that turned out to be my sister's boyfriend. We remembered the time our dad dropped the turkey last year which made us realize it was a good idea that we chose to eat Chinese food this year instead. We whispered words about grandpa feeding the dog cranberry sauce under the table and how this year grandpa fed the dog sesame chicken. The dog got sick but it was a great Thanksgiving.
